Get the school’s actual weights

Check the syllabus or school grading policy. Quarter 1, Quarter 2 and the final must total 100% in this weighted model. The calculator’s 40/40/20 template is illustrative and is not a claim about your school.

Enter current and unfinished work separately

Leave an unfinished final blank to see the normalized grade for completed components. Entering zero instead assumes a real zero. If you want the final-exam score needed for a target, use the separate final-grade planner.

Move from percentage to GPA

When the course percentage is final, apply the school’s letter-grade thresholds and GPA credits. Repeat the course-by-course process for the semester. Do not average raw percentages and call that GPA.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLE

Put the numbers together

With confirmed 40/40/20 weights, quarter grades of 88 and 92 plus a final of 85 yield 88 × .4 + 92 × .4 + 85 × .2 = 89%.
