AMCAS starts with primary course content
For the 2027 AMCAS guide, classify coursework by its primary content, not merely the department or title. Natural and physical sciences designated NPSC are not automatically BCPM. Consult the course description and official classification guide for interdisciplinary subjects.
Keep undergraduate and graduate work distinct
The AMCAS cumulative undergraduate calculation includes undergraduate post-baccalaureate work. Graduate work is reported separately. Within the selected level, add BCPM quality points and divide by BCPM GPA credits—not by all course credits.
CASPA makes a different split
CASPA includes its Other Science category in science GPA but treats mathematics as non-science. Do not reuse an AMCAS BCPM subtotal as a CASPA science total. The two tools on this site expose separate category choices.
Repeats and grade scales matter too
For AMCAS, each completed repeated attempt must be accounted for, including original grades replaced under school forgiveness. Our limited tool supports the stated A–F plus/minus model and semester credits; unusual grades or missing original attempts require review.

Put the numbers together
Illustrative AMCAS subset: Biology A/3 and Mathematics B/3 give BCPM 21 ÷ 6 = 3.50. Adding English C/3 changes total undergraduate GPA to 27 ÷ 9 = 3.00, not the BCPM subtotal.
