Separate the records

A dual-enrollment course may appear on both a high-school and a college transcript. Keep each institution’s credits, grade scale and inclusion policy separate. A college course grade and AP exam credit are different records.

Use the school’s weighting rule

Our high-school calculator lets you confirm honors and advanced-course bonuses, but they are examples until matched to your school. Enter finalized course grades, not AP exam scores. A more demanding course does not automatically receive a bonus everywhere.

Admissions may recalculate

UC uses its own eligible A–G courses, time window and honors cap. Georgia HOPE uses a different core-course definition and distinguishes high-school advanced-course weighting from postsecondary STEM weighting. Do not reuse one weighted total for all three purposes.

Plan workload as well as points

Compare realistic grade scenarios and ask an advisor about degree applicability and withdrawal or repeat policies. This calculator can show arithmetic, not predict your course grade or the best schedule for you.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLE

Put the numbers together

In an explicitly hypothetical equal-credit model, one A with a 1.0 course bonus and one regular A yield weighted 4.50 versus unweighted 4.00.

Method and limits

These examples use stated mathematical assumptions, not a claim that every institution uses the same policy. Read our methodology or check the available institution-specific profiles. Your transcript is the official record.
