Use the same courses for a fair comparison
Compare weighted and unweighted calculations on the same course list and credits. Changing the included courses at the same time changes more than weighting.
There is no universal bonus
Schools can differ in bonus size, eligible courses, minimum grades, and caps. Our high school tool implements a simple user-confirmed model: a bonus on each passing letter grade, with no bonus on F or excluded grades. It cannot represent every school’s policy.
You cannot reliably scale it back
Multiplying an aggregate weighted GPA by 4/5 does not recover the underlying unweighted GPA. Recalculate from course grades, credits, and the base scale.

Put the numbers together
Illustrative example: two equal-credit A courses, one regular and one with a 1.0 advanced bonus, yield (4 + 5) ÷ 2 = 4.50 weighted and (4 + 4) ÷ 2 = 4.00 unweighted.
